The Bagman Analogy Revisited

I’ve been horribly remiss in failing to highlight sooner Matt Jenny’s excellent skeptical analysis of my bagman analogy. I’ll try to have the reply that it deserves up soon, but in the mean time just look over what Matt has had to say.

  1. Thanks for mentioning my analysis, Brad. I felt kind of bad when I wrote it since I knew that you didn’t have that much free time right now to reply to it but I was really bored that evening when I wrote it (because I should’ve been studying for a French exam ;) ). Anyway, take your time. I’m looking forward to your response. I already see some minor flaws in my analysis and some points which I could’ve phrased more clearly, but I’ll first wait for your response.

I think this issue (and its implication for the analysis of Big Business and sweatshops etc.) is a decisive one to define a legitimate leftist branch within libertarianism which wants to distinguish itself from the libertarian right (in political analysis) and from the traditional left (in economic analysis). And I think that a left-libertarian analysis is essential to recruit new people (especially from the left) for our left-libertarian tactics.
