As it continues to dawn on the American moderate left that there really almost isn’t any such thing as a “conservative” any more; that they face an exponentially more tyrannical, militarist, government-loving authoritarian right — left and libertarian re-alignment continues apace. The right to keep and bear arms is shaping up to be a potentially important point of mutual coalescence. I predict we will see the most onerous gun owner persecution coming from the authoritarian right in years to come, as a movement in reaction to voters of moderately libertarian sentiments fleeing to the moderate left.
