The Biblical case for Anarchy
I’m not a particularly religious person and my theological opinions tend to run toward an eclectic paganism/pantheism. This post isn’t so much about religion, though, as it is about politics and morality (however one arrives at their conception of morality).
I find it intensely interesting whenever other people arrive at similar conclusions to my own through a totally different chain of reasoning. It’s the sort of validation you expect to see when you believe the truth is on your side. With that in mind, I’d like to recommend the essay “Christianarchy?” in which Michael Tennant outlines the Biblical case for Anarchy.
Readers who want more ambitious reading in the same vein should not fail to miss “Jesus is an Anarchist” by James Redford, perhaps the best modern libertarian work on the topic (to the best of my knowledge). It’s a bit long for some people, though — and that’s all the more reason to bookmark the article by Tennant above.
Now, how might we smuggle 50,000 copies into a religious right gathering?
