UPDATED: Greensburg Tornado Relief

Readers are, no doubt, aware that the town of Greensburg, Kansas was recently almost completely destroyed by a massive tornado. Word has reached me that Kansas Mutual Aid and Solidarity is pitching in on the relief effort. Volunteers and donations of relief supplies and money are needed. Email follows:

Howdy all.

I’m writing this e-mail to try to enlist help for the people of Greensburg, who’s entire town was destroyed by a tornado this past weekend. A couple of us from Kansas Mutual Aid and Solidarity were talking about offering physical support to the families there, as we know that the federal and state governments will not be providing what the people need. Despite the kind words of Bush yesterday, we know that the interests of everyday working people are not in the mind of the rich of this country.

We have been invited by some residents in Greensburg to come down this weekend, and also in the future as regularly as we can, to offer physical support. We need people to help us fill our schoolbus with supplies and people who can lift, move debris, offer help with minor construction projects, etc…

If you are free this weekend, and want to help, please get a hold of me ASAP. I want to go, but if we can’t get enough people to make the trip worth it, then we’ll have to postpone into next week.

Anybody that does not have the time, but might have resources such as water jugs, medical supplies, food, shovels, etc… or even money (we’ll need fuel for our bus to get down there) please, please, contact me.

Thanks!

In love and solidarity,
Dave,
on behalf of Kansas Mutual Aid
